Sfendami Mountain Festival 2013
The 7th Sfendami Mountain Festival (SMF) in Sfendami (region of Pieria – Central Macedonia) invites young and old in a big mountain sports and culture festival to be held on April 20 and 21, 2013.
With Mount Olympus, Pieria Mountains and Thessaloniki on the backdrop, the festival promises to offer to participants and spectators memorable moments through a rich programme that includes sports and various other events.
Sports activities for this year’s festival include a 23 km mountain running race and a 42 km mountain bike race with the participation of distinguished athletes from Greece and the Balkan countries. Races for kids 2-15 years will be held too.
On the occasion of the festival, the cultural heritage of Sfendami will come under the spotlight, as the local clubs and residents will be presenting the traditions and cuisine of the area.
Food and leisure facilities will be available during the 7th Sfendami Mountain Festival, as well as some creative workshops for the kids. Camping will be offered to a number of the participating athletes at the Municipal Stadium of Sfendami.
The big and pleasant surprise for this year is the tourist train, offering visitors the chance to get to the festival’s venue through a 2.5km itinerary of exceptional natural beauty.
